Exploring Oregon and Beyond: A Destination Wedding Adventure

Hello everyone,A month before my kids were born, I had the incredible opportunity to take a trip to Portland, Oregon. I stayed in the vibrant city for a few days, soaking in the local culture and stunning scenery. After that, I hit the road and spent the next week exploring the diverse landscapes of the state before heading down to Lake Tahoe to film a beautiful wedding.Photography taken in Oregon in November 2011.  For more of our images check out our Flickr PageGulls

Destination Weddings: A Perfect Excuse to Travel

Using destination weddings as a way to see the country is an excellent strategy. By building in a few extra days to explore, you can turn a work trip into an unforgettable travel experience. Plus, offering a discount for weddings in locations you'd love to visit is a fantastic way to entice clients. You'll almost always find someone who will take you up on your offer, giving you the chance to combine your passion for photography with your love for travel.Oregon Woods

Tips for Planning Destination Weddings

  1. Plan Ahead: Make sure to schedule a few extra days before or after the wedding to explore the area.
  2. Offer Discounts: Provide a discount for weddings in destinations you'd like to visit. This makes it more appealing for clients and gives you a reason to travel.
  3. Research Locations: Look into the best spots for photography in the area you're visiting. Local landmarks, parks, and scenic routes can offer great photo opportunities.
  4. Network Locally: Connect with local vendors and photographers. They can provide valuable insights and might even collaborate with you on future projects.
  5. Capture Everything: Document not just the wedding but also your travel experiences. These can add a personal touch to your blog and social media, engaging your audience even more.
